Wrestling is a sport of dominance. You go in trying to out-wit, and out-power your opponent so you can come out victorious. So during the pre-season a lot of wrestlers will start lifting like crazy to get as strong as possible. With the hopes of doing this that they will be able to dominate their weight class more successfuly or with more ease. But you know strength is not everything you need in wrestling. Something thats even more important than that would be your cardiovascular system. Because if you can't go three peroids without becoming entirely exhausted then you won't be able to out last your competitors who do have a good cardio system. In this article we will discuss in more depth why cardio is extremely important and wrestling tips to help you improve your's.

First off like I said if you can not successfuly go three periods without being totally exhausted then you may not be able to defeat wrestlers who are in better shape. But even worse than that, what if you and your opponent are equally exhausted and end up scoring the same points which send you into sudden death. If you can barely make three peroids than good luck in sudden death. Becuase that's when you really have to push yourself. So it is extremely important that if you want to be successful in wrestling that you train your cardio system to the best of your abilities. So lets give some wrestling tips to improve your cardio. First off if your really out of shape it is ok to start by jogging for just five to ten minutes. It may not seem like much but putting your body under stress that it is not normally use to will produce changes.

So you can start off small and work your way up. I suggest you work up to doing cardio thirty to fourty-five minutes, three to five times a week. Also you dont have to just run. It can be anything that moves a large part of your body such as your legs that will cause your heart to beat quicker so it can keep delivering oxygen and blood to your muscles. So things like bicycling, swimming, etc. Then after a while of doing cardio you will start to find your workouts getting easier and thats when you should mix it up. Such as doing interval training where for example you jog for one minute, then sprint for thirty to fourty-five seconds, then return to jogging for another minute, and so on. This will continue to help your heart to have to adapt and grow bigger which will make it more efficient at delivering blood and oxygen to your muscles. Thus improving your cardio. These are just some quick, and easy wrestling tips to help you improve cardio to help you be a more dominant wrestler.
