Wrestling is a sport that test's you in a variety of ways. Physically, mentally, and emotionally are the three major catagories you can form in the ways you will be tested.

When it comes to physically, yes of course muscles can help, but they are not the only thing you need. Even more important than muscles in wrestling would have to be you being very fit cardiovascular wise. Because the more blood and oxygen your heart can transport to the rest of your body the longer you will be able to endure the entire match without becoming exhausted.

If someone's cardio is very poor and becomes exhausted quickly in a match then they will not be able to go all three periods and either end up being pinned or teched.

Another reason why cardio is extremely important is if you ever have to go into sudden death. You can always tell which wrestler is in better condition when it comes to sudden death. They are the ones who can push through, and have enough drive to squeeze out another takedown or whatever. The other wrestler who is less fit will find themselves thinking that they dont care if they win the match anymore. The only thing they can think about is getting to rest.

If you are a beginner wrestler or are just a wrestler who would like to build up their wrestling muscle and cardio I will be writting some wrestling tips, and exercises to help you out in my wrestling tips blog.

But now lets talk about being tested mentally. Wrestling can be a very stressful sport. Constantly having to go to brutal practices, if cutting weight then your deprived of food and water, you have to go to tournaments were your there for HOURS and maybe get to wrestle for a total of 30 minutes, and then you have nerve-racking duels in front of your classmates. So to compete in this sport you have to be very tough mentally. Especially when the season is dragging on slowly.

If your in need of some wrestling tips for this area here are a couple to start with. First off sometimes you do need to step back and realize that it is just a sport, and losing is not the end of the world. It's easy to get caught up in the sport to the point where its the only thing on your mind. Which can wear you down. But I am not saying that you shouldn't strive to do your best, but obsessing over the sport will mess with you.

It can cause you to lose sleep over, which in turn could affect your wrestling. So if you find yourself getting swept up and overwhelmed then take a little time to just relaxe, and take a breather. It can really clear your mind and refocuse you.

The last aspect that you will be tested with is emotionally. The people who this really effects the most is kids who cut a good sum of weight. When someone does cut weight your body will produce less testosterone and more estrogen.

For those who dont know estrogen is female's main hormone produced and causes people to become more emotional. While testosterone is the male's predominant hormone that increases our aggression, muscle growth, etc.

So by cutting weight it could result in you being a little more emotional than normal. But you got to realize this will stop when you start eating again.

There really isn't any wrestling tips that can be given for this area. Just be aware what changes will be occuring within you and keep a strong will power to keep pushing through the season as a strong competitor.

But for beginners every year you are in wrestling everything does get easier. So dont be discouraged if you hated your first season. Because after that it will continue to get easier.
